Studio Session | Inventing Perspective in Renaissance Italy

  • ArtsClub DC 1506 19th Street Northwest 4th Floor (walk-up) Washington, DC, 20036 United States (map)

Learn how to draw using linear perspective, a technique (re)discovered during the Renaissance, and why it changed the course of art history.

Around 1420, Filippo Brunelleschi (1377-1446) rediscovered the technique of linear perspective, revolutionizing how space was portrayed in Renaissance art.

In this lesson you will explore the circumstances that led to Brunelleschi’s insight, plus how and why it spread like wildfire throughout Renaissance circles. Then you’ll create your own drawing using the linear perspective technique.
