Paint Like Roberto Matta

  • ArtsClub DC 1621 Connecticut Avenue Northwest, 3rd Floor Washington, District of Columbia, 20009 United States (map)

"Resistance is in each of us. We resist by exercising our creativity."

- Roberto Matta

Learn about the multidimensional paintings of Roberto Matta, the Chilean-born artist known for bridging European Surrealism and American Abstract Expressionism while influencing artists like Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko.

This Studio Session begins with an art history lesson that offers a glimpse into his life, inspirations, and dynamic cosmic compositions. Then, with guidance from professional artists, you’ll create your own “mindscape” painting, blending recognizable forms with abstraction to represent the inner workings of your mind.

Ticket includes lesson and all art materials. Coveralls/smocks are provided to protect your clothing.

This Studio Session is part of our Central and South American Art series. You can sign up for a single class or for the entire series here.
