Studio Session | Helen Frankenthaler

  • ArtsClub 311 East 3rd Street New York, NY, 10009 United States (map)

“There are no rules. That is how art is born, how breakthroughs happen. Go against the rules or ignore the rules. That is what invention is about.”

- Helen Frankenthaler

Create your own soak-stain paintings in the style of Helen Frankenthaler.

Helen Frankenthaler was an American Abstract Expressionist painter best known for her “soak stain” paintings, which she created by diluting her paint and soaking it into unprimed canvas. During this event, you’ll learn about Helen Frankenthaler and create your own calming soak stain paintings by pouring her paint onto the canvas and using sponges to move it around.

Taught by PhDs, subject matter experts and professional artists. All art supplies are included.

This Studio Session is part of the Feminist Art Studio Series. Sign up for a single class or for the entire series here.
