Studio Session | Queer Surrealism

  • 311 East 3rd Street New York, NY, 10009 United States (map)

"Shuffle the cards. Masculine? Feminine? It depends on the situation."

- Claude Cahun

Learn how Surrealists used art to break boundaries and create your own surreal composition that challenges expectations.

Many LGBTQ+ artists found in Surrealism a way to challenge gender roles, express desire, and explore identity beyond societal norms. Such artists include Leonor Fini, Toyen, and Claude Cahun, who used Surrealist techniques to reimagine the body, identity, and fantasy.

Taught by PhDs, subject matter experts and professional artists. All art supplies are included.

This Studio Session is part of the Feminist Art Studio Series. Sign up for a single class or for the entire series here.
