Studio Session | The Origins of Abstraction: Hilma af Klint

  • ArtsClub 311 East 3rd Street New York, NY, 10009 United States (map)

"Life, is a farce if a person does not serve truth.”

- Hilma af Klint

Before abstraction had a name, Hilma af Klint was painting messages from beyond. Af Klint’s process included conducting séances with a group of women that called themselves “De Fem” (The Five), and translating those findings into her work. During this event, you’ll learn about Hilma af Klint’s scientific, spiritual and artistic journey. Then, paint your own abstract works on canvas drawing inspiration from scientific illustration, geometry, spiritual associations and color theory.

Taught by PhDs, subject matter experts and professional artists. All art supplies are included.

Ticket includes lesson and all art materials. Coveralls/smocks are provided to protect your clothing. No experience needed!
