Studio Session | Roberto Matta

  • ArtsClub 311 East 3rd Street New York, NY, 10009 United States (map)

"Resistance is in each of us. We resist by exercising our creativity. That is true poetry—when we seek new comparisons, other ways of looking and conceiving of things." -

Roberto Matta

Learn about the multidimensional paintings of Roberto Matta, the Chilean-born artist known for bridging European Surrealism and American Abstract Expressionism while influencing artists like Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko.

This Studio Session offers a glimpse into his life, inspirations, and dynamic cosmic compositions. Then, create your own Matta-inspired painting, blending recognizable forms with abstraction.

Ticket includes lesson and all art materials. Coveralls/smocks are provided to protect your clothing.

This Studio Session is part of our Central and South American Art series. You can sign up for a single class or for the entire series here.
