  • ArtsClub DC 1506 19th Street Northwest Washington, DC, 20036 United States (map)

“There are no rules. That is how art is born, how breakthroughs happen. Go against the rules or ignore the rules. That is what invention is about.”
- Helen Frankenthaler

Helen Frankenthaler was an American Abstract Expressionist painter best known for her “soak stain” paintings, which she created by diluting her paint and soaking it into unprimed canvas.

During this event, you’ll learn about Helen Frankenthaler and create your own calming soak stain paintings by pouring her paint onto the canvas and using sponges to move it around.

Ticket includes art history lesson and all art materials. Coveralls/ smocks will be provided to protect your clothing.
