Dupont Studio Session | Abstract Expressionism: Willem de Kooning

  • ArtsClub 311 East 3rd Street New York, NY, 10009 United States (map)

“I paint this way because I can keep putting more things in it–drama, anger, pain, love, a figure, a horse, my ideas about space. Through your eyes it again becomes an emotion or idea.” — Willem de Kooning

Willem de Kooning was a pioneer of the Abstract Expressionist movement in New York. He became known for his dramatic abstract figure paintings, each packed with action and emotion. In this lesson, you will learn about de Kooning and his role in the abstract expressionist movement, then create your own gestural representation-heavy paintings in his style.

Ticket includes lesson and all art materials.
