Paint Like Kenneth Noland

  • ArtsClub DC 1621 Connecticut Avenue Northwest, 3rd Floor Washington, District of Columbia, 20009 United States (map)

"I think of painting without subject matter as music without words."

— Kenneth Noland

Kenneth Noland was a D.C.-based abstract painter who, along with his friend and collaborator Morris Louis, established the founding principles of the Washington Color School. His work explores the essential qualities of color and surface by applying thinned acrylic paint to an unprimed canvas, making it nearly impossible to revise or modify colors.

Learn about the inspiration and methods behind Noland’s iconic "one-shot" circles and chevrons, then create your own colorful geometric compositions inspired by his signature style.

Open to all experience levels. Tickets include a guided lesson and all art materials.
